Jet Ski & Boat GPS Tracker

A jet ski GPS tracker lets you check on your ski when it’s parked in the driveway, at a storage yard or on its trailer. Fast E can supply and fit GPS trackers to jet skis, boats and boat trailers on the Sunshine Coast. We aim for a neat, hidden install that keeps the tracker powered and out of sight.

Why fit a jet ski GPS tracker?

Jet skis spend a lot of time on trailers. That makes them easy to hitch up and move. A hidden tracker gives you another layer of protection beyond a hitch lock.

It’s also handy day to day. For example, you can check the ski is still where you left it while you’re at work or away on holiday.

Hardwired or battery powered on the water?

Most jet skis and boats have a battery on board. So a hardwired tracker is often a good choice, since it draws power from the craft and doesn’t need charging.

However, some owners disconnect the battery or remove it between trips. In that case, a battery-powered unit might suit better. Alternatively, there may be a way to combine the two. We’ll ask how you store the craft, then recommend an option.

Fitting a tracker to a jet ski

Space inside a jet ski is tight, and the environment is wet and salty. Therefore, placement matters. We look for a spot that’s hidden and protected from the elements as far as the ski allows.

We also keep the wiring tidy and secure. That way, nothing works loose when you’re out on the water.

Boat GPS tracker

The same idea applies to boats. A tracker can be fitted on board, wired to the boat’s power and tucked out of view. Bigger boats usually have more places to hide it. Even so, we still plan the spot carefully.

Some owners also ask about a tracker near the engine. Tell us about your boat and outboard, and we’ll talk through what’s possible.

Track the trailer as well

A trailer can be taken without the craft, or with it. As a result, some owners like a tracker on the trailer as well as the ski or boat.

Trailers don’t always have a constant power source. So the right tracker may be different from the one on the craft itself. Our caravan and trailer GPS tracker page covers trailer installs in more detail.

Plans and ongoing costs

A GPS tracker with its own mobile connection can send updates from wherever there’s coverage. Usually, that means a plan. By contrast, Bluetooth tags don’t need a plan but rely on nearby phones.

You can read the details in our GPS tracker vs AirTag guide. Either way, we’ll talk you through options with and without a monthly plan before we fit anything.

Also, if your ski or boat has an older 3G tracker, it’s worth checking. Australia’s 3G networks have closed, so see our guide to replacing a 3G GPS tracker.

Frequently asked questions

Can you fit a GPS tracker to my jet ski?

Yes. We can supply and fit a tracker to most jet skis. Chat with us about your make and model first.

Can you fit one to my boat trailer too?

Yes. Many owners track both the craft and the trailer. We’ll suggest the right type of tracker for each.

Will the tracker flatten my ski’s battery?

It shouldn’t if the tracker suits the craft and it’s wired correctly. Still, tell us how long it sits between rides, and we’ll factor that in.

Do you list prices?

No. Every craft is different, so chat with us and we’ll explain what’s involved.
