Looking for GPS tracker installation on the Sunshine Coast? Fast E can supply and fit GPS trackers to bikes, e-motos, cars, utes, vans, caravans, trailers, boats and jet skis. We’re best known for e-motos and conversions. However, the same careful wiring skills suit any vehicle you want to keep an eye on.
This page explains how it works, what to think about before you buy, and where to find more detail for your type of vehicle. When you’re ready, chat with us and we’ll talk you through the options.
GPS tracker installation on the Sunshine Coast, done properly
A tracker is only useful if it keeps working. So the fitting matters as much as the device itself. A loose unit on a long wire can drop out, drain a battery or be found in seconds.
That’s why we focus on a tidy, hidden install. In most cases we hardwire the tracker to the vehicle’s power. As a result, it stays charged and you don’t have to remember to top it up. We also tuck it somewhere sensible, away from the obvious spots.
Here’s what a typical job looks like:
- We chat about the vehicle, how you use it and what you want the tracker to do.
- Next, we suggest a suitable 4G tracker and talk through plan options.
- Then we fit and wire it neatly, and check it reports in before you leave.
- Finally, we show you how to use the app or account that comes with it.
Which vehicles can we fit a tracker to?
Each vehicle has its own quirks. For that reason, we’ve written a page for each main type. Pick the one that fits you best.
Motorcycles, dirt bikes and e-motos
Bikes are light and easy to move, so a hidden tracker makes a lot of sense. See our motorcycle GPS tracker page for more.
Surron, Talaria and other light electric bikes
These are our home turf. Read about Surron GPS tracker fitting for the Light Bee X, Ultra Bee and Talaria.
Jet skis and boats
Watercraft often sit on a trailer in the driveway or at a storage yard. Our jet ski and boat GPS tracker page covers both the craft and the trailer.
Caravans and trailers
Caravans can spend months parked between trips. Meanwhile, box and boat trailers are easy to hitch up and tow away. See our caravan and trailer GPS tracker page.
Cars and 4WDs
For the family car or the weekend 4WD, a hardwired 4G car GPS tracker is a set-and-forget option.
Utes, vans and small fleets
If you run a few work vehicles, tracking can help you see where everything is. Take a look at ute, van and small fleet GPS tracking.
Why choose a 4G GPS tracker?
Australia’s 3G mobile networks have now been switched off. Consequently, any tracker that relied on 3G to send its location has stopped working. A current tracker needs to run on 4G or newer networks.
If you already have an older unit, it may be time to swap it out. Our guide to replacing a 3G GPS tracker explains what changed and what to do next.
Subscription or no monthly fee?
This is one of the most common questions we get. In short, there are trackers that use a mobile plan to send live updates, and there are Bluetooth tags with no plan at all. Each has its place.
For example, a Bluetooth tag can be handy for keys or a bag. On the other hand, a GPS tracker with its own mobile connection can report from wherever there’s coverage. We’ve explained the differences in plain English in our GPS tracker vs AirTag guide.
Either way, we’ll be upfront about any ongoing costs before we fit anything. That way, there are no surprises later.
What affects the cost of installation?
We don’t list prices, because every job is a little different. Instead, here are the main things that shape the quote:
- The type of vehicle and how easy it is to reach a power source.
- Whether you want a hardwired install or a simpler battery-powered unit.
- How well hidden you want the tracker to be.
- The tracker you choose and whether it needs a monthly plan.
- How many vehicles you’d like done at once.
Tell us a bit about your vehicle in the chat. After that, we can give you a clear idea of what’s involved.
Why Fast E?
We work on electric motorbikes and petrol to electric e-moto conversions every day. As a result, we’re used to fitting electronics neatly into tight spaces. We also understand how important it is not to upset a vehicle’s existing wiring.
Plus, we’re local to the Sunshine Coast. So if you have a question after the install, you can simply message us.
Frequently asked questions
Can you supply the tracker as well as fit it?
Yes. We can supply a suitable tracker and fit it. Alternatively, if you already have one, chat with us and we’ll see if it’s a good fit for your vehicle.
Do I need a monthly plan?
It depends on the tracker. Some need a plan to send live updates, while others don’t. We’ll talk you through options with and without a monthly plan.
Will a hardwired tracker flatten my battery?
It shouldn’t, as long as the tracker suits the vehicle and it’s wired correctly. That said, tell us if the vehicle sits unused for long periods. We’ll factor that into our advice.
Do you fit trackers outside the Sunshine Coast?
Our focus is the Sunshine Coast. Still, it’s worth asking in the chat, and we’ll let you know what we can do.
