Caravan & Trailer GPS Tracker

A caravan GPS tracker helps you keep tabs on your van while it’s parked at home, in storage or at a campsite. Fast E can supply and fit GPS trackers to caravans, camper trailers, box trailers, boat trailers and plant trailers on the Sunshine Coast. We focus on a tidy, hidden install that suits how you use the van.

Why fit a caravan GPS tracker?

Many caravans spend months parked between trips. Meanwhile, owners are often far away, at work or travelling in another vehicle. A tracker lets you check on the van from your phone.

A hidden tracker also adds a layer beyond a hitch lock or wheel clamp. For many owners, that peace of mind is the main reason to fit one.

Caravan GPS tracker installation

Caravans usually have a house battery on board. As a result, a hardwired tracker is often a good fit. It draws power from the van, so you don’t need to charge it.

That said, some vans have their batteries isolated in storage. In that case, we’ll talk about how the tracker stays powered. We’ll then suggest a setup that suits how you store the van.

Placement matters too. We look for a spot that’s hidden and protected, rather than an obvious place a thief would check first.

Trailer GPS tracker

Trailers are some of the easiest things to take. They often have no lock beyond the hitch, and they can be towed away in seconds. Because of that, a hidden trailer tracker is a smart addition.

However, many trailers don’t have a constant power source. So a battery-powered tracker is often the better choice. We’ll explain the trade-offs before we fit anything.

Boat trailers

If the trailer carries a boat or jet ski, you might want to track both. See our jet ski and boat GPS tracker page for more.

Box, plant and work trailers

Work trailers often carry tools and gear. If you run several of them alongside utes or vans, have a look at our ute, van and small fleet GPS tracking page.

Caravan tracker with no subscription?

This is a common question. In short, trackers that send live updates over the mobile network usually need a plan. On the other hand, Bluetooth tags don’t need a plan, but they rely on nearby phones to report their location.

For a van parked in a quiet storage yard, that difference matters. Our GPS tracker vs AirTag guide explains it in plain English. After that, we’ll talk you through options with and without a monthly plan.

Got an old 3G tracker?

Australia’s 3G mobile networks have been switched off. Consequently, an older tracker that relied on 3G won’t report in any more. Read our guide to replacing a 3G GPS tracker, and chat with us about a 4G replacement.
